Specialty Coverage
Mechanical and Electrical Function
Relocating equipment with small moving parts and/or many delicate electrical connections requires
additional procedures and brings a higher level of risk.
Regardless of the care taken in moving your delicate electrical equipment, moving it may alter its function.
Since determining the origins of damage and assessing liability can be time consuming and costly,
there are additional rules, regulations and charges for this sort of coverage.
At Office Move Direct, the terms and conditions of our relocations state that we are not
responsible for the mechanical or electrical functions of pianos, radios, clocks, refrigerators,
television sets, photocopiers, fax machines, computers, printers or any other instruments or
appliances whether or not such items are packed or unpacked or uncrated by Office Move Direct.
However, clients who wish to be protected against this type of damage may do so provided they
follow our Mechanical and Electrical Function assessment process and pay the additional Mechanical
and Electrical Function surcharge.
Mechanical and Electrical Function Surcharge Fee
This fee covers the additional risk of insuring against the mechanical and electrical malfunction of an item due
to standard relocation wear and tear. Paying this surcharge protects you in the event that your item/items have no
visible damages and yet still do not function properly upon their arrival.
The surcharge consists of a flat fee, to cover the cost of additional forms and administration, and a per item fee
in addition to the initial OMT Protection cost of coverage. For more information about MEF charges:
